Pets at Home claims it has successfully broken the world record attempt for the amount of dogs that have been washed within 12 hours.
Across the Midlands, 5,613 dogs were washed, which broke the previous record of 5,000.
Sarah Jones, salon manager at Pets at Home in Cannock, said that the Cannock store saw 120 dogs washed and for every dog, customers were charged £5 each. All proceeds are being donated to Support Adoption For Pets, which helps unwanted pets across the UK.
Ms Jones said: “We’re just thrilled, really thrilled. The fact that we had so many people taking part all over the region was incredible and especially because we raised money for a good cause.”
Pets at Home is waiting for confirmation from the Guinness World Records, but said it is hopeful that the record has been broken.
