The NFU is encouraging members to set up features on their phones that could help save their life in an emergency.
Members of staff will be on hand to help farmers set up these phone features on the second day of NFU conference, next Wednesday (February 20).
Features include: Emergency SOS, location sharing, contacting 999 by text and voice activation.
NFU vice president Stuart Roberts said: “It is rare that we go anywhere without a mobile phone at hand nowadays, and they can really make a difference in an emergency.
“Farmers can spend a lot of time alone in the fields or out and about on the farm and this in itself can be a risk. I urge all farmers to add these features to their phones – you never know when they might be needed.”
Mr Roberts said that NFU staff will be available in the Knowledge Zone, Hall 3, on day two of conference for practical help setting up these features.
