Burgess Pet Care has announced the launch of The Great British Small Animal Census, a UK-wide survey intended to provide a comprehensive insight into the wellbeing of the nation’s small pets.
The consumer survey focuses on small animals’ five welfare needs – companionship, health, environment, diet, and behaviour – and intends to highlight whether there are areas of concern around any aspects of small animals’ wellbeing, and where owners may need more information and support.
Nicole Fallon, marketing manager at Burgess Pet Care, said: “We are really excited to launch The Great British Small Animal Census. Although we have carried out surveys for rabbits and guinea pigs before, we feel it’s important to look at the welfare needs of all small animals, including hamsters, rats, ferrets, and chinchillas too
“Our aim is to attract responses from more than 10,000 small animal owners so that we can capture a true picture of animals’ welfare, which could lead to changes for the better. We encourage all owners of small pets to get involved, and to share their views on the issues affecting the health and welfare of the nation’s small pets.
“Our survey takes no more than 15 minutes to complete and by taking part, owners can choose to enter our prize draw to win a fantastic small animal bundle worth, as well as runners-up prizes.”
