While sheep scab is a costly and highly contagious disease with serious implications for animal welfare, tackling the disease needs a proactive approach from all quarters of the sheep farming and animal health industries; from manufacturers, to vets, farmers and SQPs.
As the channel enters the new CPD points period, Bimeda has launched the online Bimeda Sheep Scab Academy. The Academy is designed to provide the most up-to-date information on the prevention and treatment of scab, which SQPs can then use to promote best practice to farmers.
To achieve level one certification of the Bimeda Sheep Scab Academy, SQPs and vets need to register for Bimeda’s free online CPD website, and complete three relevant training modules. Each module is AMTRA-accredited.
The online CPD website can be found HERE:
The three modules are: The Importance of Diagnostics in Sheep Scab Control, by key opinion leader, Rebecca Mearns; Sheep Scab – Control Measures and Resistance, by key opinion leader, Lesley Stubbings; and Sheep Ectoparasites and Their Control, by key opinion leader, Peter Bates
Bimeda said a certificate of completion and some exclusive branded Sheep Scab Academy goodies will be provided to anyone who completes all three modules in 2019. Level two of the Sheep Scab Academy will be launched in early 2020.
