Livestock equipment wholesaler Dairy Spares has been appointed as the UK and Ireland distributor for the well-known heat detection aids: Kamar Heatmount Detectors.
Originally launched in 1960, these well-proven heat detectors have helped many dairy and beef farmers improve the success of their AI programmes.
The Heatmount Detectors are simply applied over the sacrum of the cow and remain white until triggered. Triggering takes place when the pressure from the brisket of a mounting cow for a period of 3 seconds turns the detector a bright, easy-to-spot red, indicating the cow is ready to be bred.
The timing mechanism in Kamar’s detectors helps distinguish between true standing heat versus false mounting activity.
A box of 25 Kamar Heatmount Detectors contains 25 detectors, a 120ml tube of adhesive, adhesive spreader, placement gauge, applicator and instructions, and retails at £32.43 (+VAT). Additional adhesive can be purchased separately, priced at £8.04 (+VAT).
