Vetpol said its Veterinary Pharmacy Manager (VPM) course is proving to be a hit with its first graduates, who report that they are using their new-found knowledge to manage their practice pharmacies more effectively.
The level 4 online CPD course provides progression for qualified SQPs and veterinary professionals keen to further their training in pharmacy management.
Nicola Crooks, RVN of Marple Veterinary Centre passed the course recently, and said: “I have found this course so beneficial and will be giving a lot of feedback to the practice I currently work in with regards to how the pharmacy is run and how we can improve it.
“This is a lovely course to study, the way it is set out with bullet points and pictures to break up all the text really helps to keep me engaged. I would recommend other RVNs to do this even if pharmacy isn’t really of interest, it’s really opened up my eyes to keep updated and not do things the way they have always been done.”
Dawn Prime, of Wherry Vet Group and National SQP of the Year 2019, also had a positive view.
“I’d recommend this course straight away, excellent,” she said.
Caroline Johnson, a director of Vetpol, said the Veterinary Pharmacy Manager course is suitable for SQPs who want to manage a veterinary pharmacy within a registered premises and for all other veterinary professionals involved in the management of a pharmacy.
The course comprises seven modules followed by an online multiple-choice exam.
Mrs Johnson said that pharmacy management is an increasingly demanding area of veterinary practice.
“Legislation, sustainability, resistance, misuse of medication and compliance are all very important issues right now and the practice pharmacy can place an increasingly important role in all of those areas,” she said.
“Ensuring that there are robust processes helps to protect the pet, the client and the practice. We are thrilled that the course is providing our students with a great experience and even more pleased that what they learn is being put into action for the benefit of all.”
