A package containing animal medicine was identified by a courier company based at a depot in East Midlands Airport. It had arrived from the United States and contained medicine destined for a residential address in Liverpool.
Five boxes each containing one 20mg syringe of Quest Gel (Moxidectin) was detained and subsequently seized by an inspector from the Veterinary Medicines Directorate.
In a statement, the VMD said: “This product was intended for use in horses. It is not authorised in the UK or NI and was not accompanied by the relevant certification permitting its import.”
The medicine was seized under Regulation 25 (Importation of unauthorised veterinary medicinal products) of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013.
